DCLM DAILY MANNA 2 AUGUST 2021 — DELEGATION OF POWER

TOPIC: Delegation Of Power (DCLM Daily Manna 2 August 2021)

TEXT: Numbers 11:16-23

16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.

17 And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.

18 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

19 Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;

20 But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?

21 And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.

22 Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?

23 And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’S hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.

KEY VERSE: “And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.” – (Numbers 11:16)

MESSAGE:

Leadership, whether in the secular or in spiritual matters could be burdensome. When the burden becomes seemingly unbearable, the secular leader relies on his training, knowledge and experience. But in the spiritual, the leader would remember to call upon the name of the LORD for guidance and direction.

Whilst in bondage in Egypt, the children of Israel had learned the culture of ceaseless complaint. They obviously had difficulty with the challenges of their situation. Moses, in his despair might have thought he offended God in his leadership of the people. He had complained very bitterly to God over the incessant rebellion and murmuring of the children of Israel requesting that God should take his life to end his misery.

As the burden of leading the people became heavier on Moses, God knew it was time to delegate some of his functions to some others to help him bear the burden. Then He instructed him to gather unto Him seventy men of the elders of Israel whom He would put His Spirit on, to help them in their new assignment. Moses did so and the people received the Spirit.

It is the same today with the promise: “But ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me…” (Acts 1:8). God does not send His people to farm without giving them the tools to work. Every believer must avail himself of the provision of God to make his ministry more effective and productive because “…the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call” (Acts 2:39). Has God called you? Then receive the power He has made freely available for you!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Receive power for effective ministry.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
