MESSAGE:

H. Morris, the great hymn writer in one of her hymns titled At the Battle’s front, wrote: “I’ve enlisted my life in the army of the Lord, though, the fight may be long and the struggle fierce and hard; with the armour of God and the spirit’s trusty sword, At the front of the battle you will find me.” Valiant soldiers are always found at the battle front where enemies are being valiantly discomfited, defeated and the battles won.

The text shows an array of David’s valiant men of war. They were tough, rugged and no pleasure seekers. They preferred rejection, danger and every hardship of life to living under the oppressive hands of King Saul. They fought alongside David until he was made king over Israel and his kingdom was fully established.

David had a stable government because he had supportive and loyal men around him. Jesus’ army is expected to be made up of valiant soldiers who will not disappoint the Lord. We must work assiduously as valiant soldiers for the Master so as to be accorded the honour of heroes at the end of our life. A steadfast Christian soldier is never a deserter. He endures hardness and is never a lover of the world or the attraction it holds. He loves the Lord with the whole of his heart.

We are challenged to be counted among the brave men who will risk their lives for the sake of the gospel. There are captive souls that need valiant men to rescue them. Let us courageously wield the weapons of prayer and the gospel to set the captives free from sin, Satan and incurable sicknesses. We need valiant soldiers of Christ to turn the world around for Him and restore righteousness, holiness and hope of eternity in heaven to the nations.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
