DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2021 — Worrying About the World?

DCLM Higher Everyday 12 November 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Worrying About the World?

TOPIC: WORRYING ABOUT THE WORLD?

TEXT: LUKE 21:34-37

34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

MEMORY VERSE: “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares” (LUKE 21:34).

MESSAGE:

‘Worry’ as a word has several meanings. We may define it here as a state of preoccupying the mind with so many issues. A person that wants to have so many things at the same time will have so many things to be worrying about. Too much worry or anxiety about things often results in forgetfulness, health challenges or psychological problems.

The Bible text of today is a prophetic warning from the Lord Jesus to all saints. Some of the signs preceding the rapture of the saints include: merriment during wedding, naming and funeral ceremonies; and pursuit of personal ambitions at the expense of love for the things of God. Many will be anxious about how to make money, be well educated, and possess earthly materials at the expense of their personal relationship with God.

Do not allow the pursuit of earthly things prevent you from attending fellowship, serving the Lord, observing morning devotion and preparing for the rapture. The rapture is imminent. Remember, the despisers of Noah’s warning perished in the flood because of their unbelief and unrepentant attitude.

QUOTE: The rapture is imminent.

CHALLENGE: The despisers will regret in the Great Tribulation.

PRAYER: Renew my love for Your service, Lord.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
