DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 19 NOVEMBER 2021 — Pray for your Nation
DCLM Higher Everyday 19 November 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Pray for your Nation
TOPIC: PRAY FOR YOUR NATION
TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-5
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
MEMORY VERSE: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty” (1 TIMOTHY 2:1, 2).
MESSAGE:
Max Lucado thought, “Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.”
One key reason why we must pray is that it has been ordained by God. One of such commandments is for us to pray for our nation, leaders and others in authority.
So, if we are to be obedient to His will, then prayer must be part of our life in Him. In other words, prayer is an act of obedience to God. We see that Jesus constantly prayed as an example for us to follow.
Pray constantly for your nation, and all those in authority; it is a way of worshipping and praising the Lord and offering confession of your sins. Moreover, prayer for the nation will grant you the opportunity to present its needs to God.
Today, many nations are traversing in a myriad of challenges, which also affect their citizens, but our Creator can roll them away through our intercessory prayers.
QUOTE: It is a way of worshipping.
CHALLENGE: Be obedient to God’s will about prayer.
PRAYER: Give me a life of prayer, O God.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
