Topic: Sweet Meditation

Text: Psalm 104:31-34

31The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.

32He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.

33I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

34My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

Key Verse: “My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.” Psalm 104:34

Message

Nancy pleaded with her mother again and again to buy another bottle of honey. She had tasted honey first at her grandma’s house when she went to spend her holiday with her. Grandma just added a teaspoonful of honey to the tea and the teacup became full of sweetness and nourishment. O! how sweeter is the meditation of the Lord! Meditation is a long and thoughtful observation or longing for someone or something. It is the act of continuously admiring, appreciating, adoring or worshipping the Lord and feeding on His unfailing promises in the secret of our hearts.

Our Bible passage gives many attributes of the Lord that make thinking about Him sweet: His glory endures forever, He rejoices over His works, He watches over the earth and in His anger the earth trembles and the hills smoke and He is worthy of the praises of His people. God’s ever enduring glory, the wonders of His creation, His control over the whole earth and His justice make thinking about Him sweet. Learn to think of God’s mercy and power, appreciate His greatness and glory, then you will find Him sweet and good.

Prayer for today: Lord, teach me to think of Your greatness and power and cause my thoughts about You to be sweet.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
