DCLM Sincere Milk 5 DECEMBER 2021 — The Power of Thoughts in Prayer
TOPIC: THE POWER OF THOUGHTS IN PRAYER
TEXT: EPHESIANS 3:14-21
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
Key Verse: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Ephesians 3:20).
MESSAGE:
Our key verse reveals to us that God is able to do and give us not only what we ask, but also what we think. Therefore, there must be an agreement between what we pray about and what we believe.
It is not only what we ask for in prayers that is important but also what we think or believe after we have offered prayers to God. Thoughts of doubt about God’s ability to answer before praying is a waste of time. Also, thoughts of unbelief about God’s faithfulness to His promises after praying is like a child using an eraser to clean all he has used his pencil to write.
Our God is the God of all possibilities. His words are sure and His promises will definitely be fulfilled in our lives. As friends of Jesus, we must think about what the Bible teaches us about God. Think on God’s promises, faithfulness, love and power.
You must not depend on how you feel or what your friends say after you have prayed. God does not answer prayers based on what we feel, but on what He has promised.
Thoughts of doubts and unbelief bring fear, destroy faith and hinder us from getting answers to prayers. The devil usually brings suggestions to our hearts. You have the power to choose whether to accept or reject them. Pray in faith and get ready to share your testimonies.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to always think about Your power and faithfulness and not accept thoughts of unbelief from the devil.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
