TOPIC: DEAD END DESTINATION

TEXT: Proverbs 4:18-27

18But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

19The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

20My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

24Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

25Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

27Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Key Verse: “Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil” (Proverbs 4:26, 27).

MESSAGE:

Have you ever tried to get somewhere only to discover that the road led you to nowhere? You had just wasted time and effort to arrive at a dead end. This could happen to anyone in a city or inter-state journey where you are not conversant with the routes. There are also dead-end destinations in life’s journey.

Marriages, friendships, education, and careers, have crashed to dead ends for people who did not ‘ponder the path’ of their feet. The Prince, Absalom, thought he was on a good course when he tried to depose his father, King David, but he died suddenly. So did Ahithophel, his counselor.

Our text says, “…remove thy foot from evil.” It is evil to company with cultists, thieves, fornicators, drunkards, drug addicts, and the indolent. They lead to a dead end socially, physically, and spiritually. How is your life? Have you come to a dead-end destination? Turn now to Christ for the solution and be guided by God’s Word in your life’s journey.

Quote: Be guided by God’s Word

Challenge: Flee youthful lusts.

Prayer: Help me Lord to refrain from evil, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
