DCLM Higher Everyday  26 September 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Declaration: O Shall Not Die

Topic: Declaration: O Shall Not Die

Text: Psalm 118:14-17

14The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.

15The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.

16The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.

17I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.

Key Verse: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord” (Psalm 118:17).

Message

In life, what you say and believe matters a lot. Hence a preacher declared, “Say it, see it, and seize it.” The Psalmist declared that God was his strength therefore he could do all things. The Lord was his salvation from sin and consequences of sin. As a result, he would rejoice in the Lord who daily loaded him with good things. He had confidence that the right hand of the Lord would exalt him and defend him. Therefore, until he finished his mission on earth, he affirmed, “I shall not die but live, and declare the works of the Lord.”

As a Christian youth, you must learn, and practice positive affirmation as it builds your faith and confidence in God. Do not declare negative things you might be experiencing but declare the positive things you are expecting. You have what you say. What do you say about your health, education, spiritual life and future? Stand on the promise of God that says: “With long life will I satisfy him and shew him my salvation” (Psalm 91:16).

Quote: You have what you say

Challenge: Learn and practice positive affirmation.

Prayer for today: Oh God, You are my strength, preserve my life.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
