DCLM Higher Everyday 24 October 2022 — Destiny of deceivers

DCLM Higher Everyday 24 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Destiny of deceivers

TOPIC: DESTINY OF DECEIVERS

TEXT: PSALM 101:5-7

5Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.

6Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.

7He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.

MEMORY VERSE: “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight” (PSALM 101:7).

MESSAGE:

A common practice among sinning youths is to do anything to get what they want. They employ all kinds of lies and artifice. It never crosses their minds that such acts grieve the Holy Spirit.

Ananias and Sapphira lied to Peter about the amount they sold their land. They felt they were deceiving Peter; unfortunately, they grieved the Holy Spirit, and suddenly died. No wonder the Psalmist cried out, “Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue” (Psalm 120:2).

Gehazi was afflicted with leprosy for deceiving his master, Elisha (2 Kings 5:27). Every deceiver will end in hell (Revelation 20:10). Rather than engaging in deceit in the face of problems, youths ought to resort to prayer, looking up to Jesus, the greatest Helper, who grants sincere requests.

He who made water to come out of the rock, provided manna in the wilderness and fed five thousand (5,000) with five loaves of bread and two fishes, and the remnant fragments were 12 baskets full, is more than able to satisfy our needs.

QUOTE: Every deceiver will end up in hell.

CHALLENGE: Shun deceitful lifestyle.

PRAYER: Deliver my soul from lying lips and from a deceitful tongue.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
