Text: John 16:23-27
23And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
26At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
27For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

Message
Janet’s parents were very poor, as a result they could not finance her tertiary education. While Janet was still thinking of what to do with her future, her uncle arrived from the city. She explained the situation to him, and he promised to sponsor Janet’s education. He then gave her his phone number and told her to call him as soon as the University’s application form is available. Janet attempted to contact her uncle, but was unsuccessful. The number kept giving the ringing message, “The number you are calling is not on this network. Check the number and call again.” After several failed attempts, Janet met one of her cousins, Deborah, who gave Janet the uncle’s correct number. She then realized she had been calling the wrong number. She immediately called her uncle who sent money for the form as well as a large sum of money for her university education.

The Name of Jesus is the right number to dial to reach God the Father in heaven and to get answer to our prayers. When you call God in the name of Jesus and you have faith and there is no sin in your life, the door to heaven’s resources will be opened to you. Dial the number “JESUS” and answer will come immediately.

Prayer for today: God, please help me to recognize the power in Jesus’ Name and to rely on the name in all situations.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
