DCLM Sincere Milk  11 April 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Divine direction

TOPIC: DIVINE DIRECTION

BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 10:21-24

21For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.

22Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.

23O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

24O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

KEY VERSE: “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23).

MESSAGE:

David was a man who loved God very much. However, there were occasions where he failed because he did not ask God for direction before taking decisions. One of these such occasion was when he instructed his servant to organize a census (numbering) for Israel. God was not happy about David’s action and therefore punished him and the children of Israel.

Man was created with the power to make choices in life; but God expects everyone, particularly believers, to seek His guidance before taking any decision about anything in life. Human beings are limited but God is unlimited. He sees and knows all things. God is Omniscient because He is All-Knowing. There are many things you don’t know; God knows all things about you from beginning to end.

Children of God should endeavor to seek direction from God in all matters of life. You do not own yourself; God owns you. There is danger in conducting one’s life without the direction of God. Therefore, seek divine guidance in all you do, like the choice of friends, school, career, academics, etc. Be prayerful, read your Bible every day and meditate on its words, be determined to obey God’s word.

PRAYER: O Lord my God, help me to trust You to give me clear guidance in every area of my life._

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
