TOPIC: DIVINE SEPARATION

TEXT: EXODUS 8:20-23

20And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

21Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.

22And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.

23And I will put a division between my people and thy people: to morrow shall this sign be.

Key Verse: “And I will put a division between my people and thy people: to morrow shall this sign be” (Exodus 8:23).

MESSAGE:
The wickedness and disobedience of men usually results in troubles and calamities in the world. Pharaoh was stubborn and his heart remained hardened to the will of God to free the children of Israel from bondage. It is quite unbelievable that a man would continue to fight his Creator. This attitude of Pharaoh brought suffering upon his people the Egyptians. The whole land suffered God’s punishment.

The focus of today’s topic is the miracle of God in making a difference between the children of Israel and the Egyptians, as the ten plagues (troubles) that came upon them in Egypt did not reach Goshen where the children of Israel were. They were shielded and protected by the power of God. It was a supernatural occurrence that made the enemies to fear God.

In the same way, when unbelievers are suffering, there is a place of safety for the people of God. God knows how to keep His obedient children from evils and calamities. The children that find shelter under God’s wings shall not be afraid in times of troubles and disasters. However, you must come to Jesus and remain under the shadow of the Almighty. Then, whatever may be happening around you, God will keep you from all harms.

Prayer: O Lord, please shield me from the troubles and calamities of this world.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
