Topic: Do Good Like Jesus

Text:  Acts 10:34-38

34Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Key Verse: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” (Acts 10:38).

Message

Jesus Christ left His glory in heaven and came to this world to pay the ultimate price for man’s redemption from sin with His blood.  But before His vicarious death on the cross, He went about freely doing good by healing the sick, delivering the oppressed and bound, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom in the power of the Holy Ghost for over three years.

If you are a follower of Christ, He wants you to be like Him; do good to other people, by the power of the Holy Ghost, as much as you can, wherever you can and as long as you live. “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked” (1John 2:6).

If missionaries like John G. Lake, David Livingstone and Mary Slessor could travel very far to foreign lands in Africa just to preach to sinners, heal the sick and the oppressed for free like Jesus, you too can do likewise at home, school, market and wherever you go.

Quote: He wants you to be like Him

Challenge: Aim to do good like your Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Prayer for today: O Lord, anoint me with the Holy Ghost and power to do good.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
