DCLM Sincere Milk 12 February 2023 — Do not envy the success of evil doers

DCLM Sincere Milk  12 February 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Do not envy the success of evil doers

TOPIC: DO NOT ENVY THE SUCCESS OF EVIL DOERS

TEXT: Psalm 37:1-7.

1(A Psalm of David.) Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

4Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Memory Verse: “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.” Psalm 37:1

MESSAGE:

The way of the righteous is different from the way of sinners. The sinners in the world can cheat to achieve anything they want. They do not fear God neither do they live to please their Creator. A believer is quite different.
He cannot walk in the way of sinners because their end is destruction. So, when the evil doers seem to be prospering, we are not to get angry or become envious or upset about it. We are to trust in the Lord, rest in Him and wait patiently for Him.

John is a friend of Jesus. He was to write the entrance examination to Secondary School. On the examination day, many of the pupils planned with the invigilator to cheat. John knew cheating in examination is bad, and that he would never cheat but rather trust God for his success.
Other pupils interpreted
John’s action as foolishness, wondering why a person will reject such help and decide to fail. The Examination body got to know what happened at the Examination Centre and took decision to cancel all their answers to the examination questions except that of John. He was also rewarded with a scholarship for his excellent performance.

No matter what is happening around us, God desires that we put our trust in Him and be diligent. As we commit our way to the Lord and delight in Him, He will make His will come to pass in our lives. God will never let us down.

Prayer: O God, help me not to envy the success of the evil doers but to always put my trust in you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
