Topic: Do not make the Holy Spirit Unhappy
Bible Reading: Ephesians 4:29-32 (KJV)
29Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
KEY VERSE: “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30
Message
The Holy Spirit is the third Personality in the Godhead. He is the Spirit of Truth sent by Jesus to comfort and guide the church. However, the word of God warns us that we must not make Him sad. This is to show that there are things children can do to make the Holy Spirit unhappy. Just as God can be provoked by our disobedience so also is the Holy Spirit.
This third person in the Godhead is holy, therefore He will not accommodate anything that is dirty. Some of the habits that can make the Holy Spirit unhappy include: (i)Gossips and negative talk (ii) Living in continuous sin (iii)Living in fear. Fear has torment (iv)Neglecting prayer… This disrupts communication between us and God (v) Spiritual laziness, being indifferent to the things of God (vi) Unforgiving spirit (vii) Neglecting God’s word (viii) Pride and self-will.
The spirit longs to dwell with us forever. Obey Him so that you can enjoy eternal fellowship and peace with Him.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, please deliver me from every act that can annoy the Holy Spirit.

1 Thessalonian 5:19
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
