DCLM Higher Everyday 15 April 2024 — Don’t Embrace it

DCLM Sincere Milk  15 April 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiDon’t Embrace it

Topic: Don’t Embrace it

Text: Judges 1:27-29

27Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

28And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

29Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

Key Verse: “Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.” Judges 1:29

Message

To embrace is to treat or accept someone or something with excessive care and attention. The tribe of Ephraim and other tribes in Israel disobeyed God’s instructions to them on how to treat the idol worshippers they met in the land of Canaan. They did not only allow these people to live with them, but also copied the evil ways of these ungodly people. The children of Israel became so fearful and lazy that they failed to drive out these idol worshippers from the land as God instructed them. They became sources of troubles and pains to Israel.

Do you have mates or habits that often lead you to offend God? Don’t embrace sin or sinners. Know that God has given you the power to do what He commands. Separate from those sinful friends and turn away from those irritating habits of selfishness, cheating, pretense, dishonesty, stubbornness and others. You will only have victory as you pray and press on to do God’s will today.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to repent from every sin and separate from anyone and habit that can make me to sin.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
