DCLM Higher Everyday 29 November 2023 — Faithful Father
Topic: Faithful Father
Text: 1 Peter 1:15-19
15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
18Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Key Verse: “And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear” (1 Peter 1: 17).
Message
According to Don Stewart, “When we say God is faithful it means He is totally trustworthy – He is perfectly faithful.” In Lamentations 3: 22-23, Prophet Jeremiah captures it succinctly, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” God is faithful to His children. To enjoy the best of God, I invite you into a personal child-father relationship with Him. Be assured, no one can ever be more faithful than God. Thomas Chisholm wrote the poem, Great is Thy Faithfulness in 1923, as he considered God’s faithfulness to him. The refrain says:
Great is Thy faithfulness! (x2)
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!
If you walk in obedience to Him, you will experience His faithfulness.
Quote: God is faithful to His children
Challenge: Be faithful to God.
Prayer for today: Holy Father, help me to be faithful in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
