DCLM Sincere Milk 20 March 2023 — Fear not Abram
DCLM Sincere Milk 20 March 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Fear not Abram
TOPIC: “FEAR NOT ABRAM”
KEY VERSE: “After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” (GENESIS 15:1)
TEXT: GENESIS 15:1-6
2And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
3And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
4And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
5And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
6And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
Our Bible passage tells of Abram’s fear about his future and how God appeared to him in a vision and gave him the assurance of being there for him. God is still the same – He takes away our fears if we trust Him. Fear comes from our negative thoughts and imaginations which the devil whispers to us.
Fear has torments. Anything that does not agree with the word of God should not be allowed to stay in your heart. Do not let Satan tell you what God has not said. Thoughts of failure, lack, sicknesses, diseases, or death should not be entertained in your heart, they are not from God. (“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” – Proverbs 4:23). Protect your heart from evil thoughts in a conscious way.
Do not be afraid of the future even if things are not going on well (as you desire) in your life or family now. You have the assurance of God’s help to see you through to a beautiful end. You must however know that like Abram, your faith in God must be from a righteous heart.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord, help me to put my faith in You and notfear.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
