DCLM Sincere Milk 25 November 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Fed by ravens
TOPIC: FED BY RAVENS
TEXT: 1 KINGS 17:1-6
2And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
3Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
4And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
5So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
6And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
Key Verse: “And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook” (1 Kings 17:6).
MESSAGE:
Ravens are large, heavy-billed dark birds. They display a high learning ability. They are well known for their intelligence. They also possess the ability to think ahead and plan for the future, no wonder God found them as useful instruments to run errands for Him. In several passages of the Bible, ravens were specifically noted to perform important tasks.
In Genesis, Noah first sent a raven from the ark to check whether the flood had reduced or not. Also, in our Bible passage, ravens were commanded by God to bring bread and meat to Prophet Elijah twice a day during a time of famine. All these point to one fact, that God owns all His creatures and can use any of them to meet the needs of His people.
God can go to any extent to take care and satisfy His children that are in difficult situations like Elijah. God will never leave His children to suffer. When there is scarcity in the land, the needs of the people of God are met in a miraculous way.
Remember the way God supplied the needs of your family during the Covid-19 lockdown? Parents could not go out to work, but God still sustained you. The Bible says in Psalm 34:10, “The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.”
This promise is for all believers that put their trust in God at all times.
Prayer: Lord, help me to always trust and look up to You for help in all situations of life.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
