DCLM Higher Everyday 13 February 2025 — For Help, Go To God

DCLM Higher Everyday 13 February 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiFor Help, Go To God

Topic: For Help, Go To God

Text: Hebrews 4:11-16

11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Key Verse: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

Message

Our text of today admonishes us to go to God’s throne of grace for the help we need. Humans can help us too, and in fact God often uses people to help us. Walter Scott said, “We cannot exist without mutual help. All therefore that need aid have a right to ask it from their fellow men; and no one who has the power of granting can refuse it without guilt.” However, there are cases where some youths have been promised by some kind-hearted relatives (even parents), to fund their tertiary education only to be disappointed due to their sudden death.

Some men have the means to help but lack human kindness. Others have mercy but lack the means or the might to help. Only God possesses both might and mercy enough to see you through your challenges. Would you win the fight against sin and some enslaving bad habit? Are you facing some financial problems? Are you struggling in your academic performance? Is there a threat in your family to your future dream? Pray in faith unto God and help will come.

Quote: Only God possesses both might and mercy.

Challenge: What God cannot do does not exist.

Prayer for today: Help me Lord, I shall not be put to shame.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
