Topic: From Grace To Grass – Part 1
Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 26:15-21 (KJV)
15And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
17And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:
18And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.
19Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.
20And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.
21And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
KEY VERSE: “But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.” 2 Chronicles 26:16
Message
The peacock is usually referred to as a bird of pride. This is because of its beauty and its behaviour. The peacock is a large, colourful and impressive bird. It has vibrant, colourful and elegant appearance and often puts up attractive elaborate display of these features. It combines pride and beauty. Even if the peacock is not proud, its postures and elaborate displays easily give off the peacock as a bird of pride. But it is the Almighty God that created the peacock to be beautiful, but not to be proud. Such is the story of Uzziah in our text. Uzziah became great or strong by the help of God. But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction. Uzziah became proud after God has lifted him up and made him strong. This is a very big lesson for boys and girls that seem to have talents, gifts and special abilities more than their mates.
Friends of Jesus should always remember that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” (James 1:17) Whatever God has endowed you with, always remember it is given to you by God for His glory and for His praises, not for your self-promotion and pride.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord Jesus, give me a humble heart and help me to be like You.

1 Peter 5:5,6
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
