DCLM Daily Manna 5 August 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — From Ordinary To Extraordinary

TOPIC: From Ordinary To Extraordinary (DCLM Daily Manna 5 August 2025)

KEY VERSE: “And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh… and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.” (Exodus 7:20).

TEXT: Exodus 7:14-25 (KJV)

14 And the Lord said unto Moses, Pharaoh’s heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.

15 Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river’s brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.

16 And thou shalt say unto him, The Lord God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.

17 Thus saith the Lord, In this thou shalt know that I am the Lord: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

18 And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.

19 And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.

20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the Lord commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

21 And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

22 And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the Lord had said.

23 And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also.

24 And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.

25 And seven days were fulfilled, after that the Lord had smitten the river.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

When God chooses a man, He does so in spite of the apparent weakness and inadequacies in the person involved. He acts deliberately, “that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Moses was such a person, and the instrument of his work was a simple rod.

God Himself acknowledged Pharaoh’s hardness of heart and He was set to afflict Egypt in order to humiliate Pharaoh. As part of the series of judgment lined up for Egypt, their rivers were to be turned to blood. This terrifying judgment would bring about the destruction of animal life in the waters and cut off the source of drinking water for the Egyptians.

As Aaron lifted up his rod as commanded by God and smote the waters in the sight of Pharaoh, the river turned into blood. The simple instrument of judgment used by God was the rod of Moses. That same ordinary rod accomplished extraordinary miracles of judgment in Egypt.

As believers, we might not be eloquent like Moses, yet God can still use us. With God’s Spirit in us, and the words of salvation on our lips, we can do great exploits for the Lord. Remember the promise in Daniel 11:32b, that when we truly know our God, we shall do exploits. Just as the rod of Moses was an instrument that God used to unleash series of judgment on the Egyptians, we carry in our mouth and life, the extraordinary power of the word of God that can draw sinners to salvation. We should know that it was not Moses’ rod that accomplished the task but the power of God behind it. God has given us His Spirit to do exploits.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
You carry the power to do exploits.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
