DCLM Sincere Milk 3 November 2024 — Give Attendance To Reading

DCLM Sincere Milk  3 November 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiGive Attendance To Reading

Topic: Give Attendance To Reading

Text: 1Timothy 4:11-16

11These things command and teach.

12Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

13Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

15Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

16Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Key Verse: “Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.” 1 Timothy 4:13

Message

Someone once said “If you want to hide something from some people, put it in a book.” This is very true these days and it cuts across not only a group of people, but also anyone who does not like to read or study. Just as people who don’t like to read are ignorant of a lot of things within and around them, the devil also wants friends of Jesus to be lazy in reading their Bible so as to make them ignorant, powerless and easy targets for oppression.

The Lord Jesus Christ, our Perfect Example, read what had been written about Him to establish that He had come to fulfil the scriptures. He made His mission of preaching the gospel, healing the sick, delivering the oppressed known in the temple. You cannot afford to be lazy when it comes to reading. The more you read, the more things you know. The more you read the Bible, the more the light of God shines on your path and illuminates your soul. Make up your mind to develop your reading culture!

Remember, readers are leader

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to develop the habit of reading my Bible every day.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
