DCLM Higher Everyday 8 September 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God Will Fight For You
Topic: God Will Fight For You
Text: Isaiah 49:24,25
24Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?
25But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
Key Verse: “Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle” (Psalm 24:8).
Message
The reality of battles in life is incontestable. Ignorance of this reality has made many people become victims instead of being victors. However, for all children of God, there is no reason for fear.
Gehazi was terrified when he saw the Syrian host sent by King Benhadad to capture his master, Prophet Elisha in Samaria. The sight of the armed soldiers and their chariots, made him feel terrified. To his chagrin, God’s servant was unperturbed but rather prayed for his eyes to be opened to see that they had the heavenly hosts with them.
The prayer of Elisha was answered. Gehazi saw chariots of fire surrounding them. God’s people need not worry about challenges in the world. Anxiety does not solve problems but leads to complex health challenges. What we must do when challenges arise is to talk them over with God. Learn to commune with God when your trials are greatest and you will come out victorious. God never loses a battle; He will fight for you and you will glorify Him in Jesus’ mighty name.
Quote: Anxiety does not solve problems
Challenge: When challenges arise talk them over with God.
Prayer for today: Help me Lord to always be aware that you will fight for me.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
