DCLM Higher Everyday 27 June 2024 — God Will Take Care of You
DCLM Higher Everyday 27 June 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God Will Take Care of You
Topic: God Will Take Care of You
Text: 1 Peter 1:6-11
6Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
8Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
Key Verse: “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory” (I Peter 1:8).
Message
The challenges of life which are a common experience to humanity sometimes come with sorrow and pain. The enormity of trials, temptations, persecutions, bereavement, failure in examinations, financial constraints, illnesses, delay in school admission, among others, are not marks of abandonment by God. Civillia Martin wrote the lyrics of the hymn below after being inspired by her little son that God would provide for them:
God will take care of you,
Through every day, o’er all the way;
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.
The Scripture is replete with God’s interventions for people who had challenges that were turned into testimonies. Examples include: Joseph, Jacob, David, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Even in our contemporary times, immeasurable acts of God attest to His unflinching love and care for His children. Our text enjoins us to keep a joyful disposition, trust in God for His interventions as situations unfold in our Christian journey, bearing in mind the Lord’s return.
Quote: Trust in God for His interventions
Challenge: The care of Jesus Christ is unlimited.
Prayer for today: Lord, help me to rejoice and hope in your care always.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
