DCLM Daily Manna 23 September 2023 — God’s Endless Graciousness

DCLM Daily Manna 23 September 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God’s Endless Graciousness

TOPIC: God’s Endless Graciousness (DCLM Daily Manna 23 September 2023)

KEY VERSE: “Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies?” (Psalm 77:9).

TEXT: Psalm 77:1-9 (KJV)

1 I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

3 I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

4 Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

5 I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

6 I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

7 Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?

8 Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?

9 Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

A story was told of a man who was kidnapped in a Nigerian village by some fearsome young men. The kidnappers took him, alongside others, to a shrine where they would all be killed and their body parts sold. On getting to the shrine, the medium asked the kidnappers to take the man away, warning them to be careful of the kind of people they brought to him. The young man was a believer and had a Bible in his bag.

The psalmist was in a precarious situation and consequently cried unto God for help night and day, refusing to be comforted. He was so troubled that he could not speak and he complained all day. He even went back to consider some of the things he had put aside and sang one of his old-time songs. His situation was serious, prompting him to question God’s graciousness. He wondered whether God had shut up His tender mercies forever or refused to be favourable any more. “Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?” (Verse 7).

At times, ugly situations happening around us may force us to ask several questions in our hearts. It could be death, hardship, oppression, job search or sack in the office. It could also be bad leadership, which is commonplace in several developing countries. No matter the situation, do not hesitate to seek the face of the Lord. Cry unto God like the psalmist. His grace is endless. He will hear and deliver you from all your troubles. God has not forgotten to be gracious, even if He shuts up His tender mercies due to your sins. He will attend to you if you repent and make your ways right with Him.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
No tight corner is too tight for God to deliver you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
