TOPIC: GOD’S HONOURING PRAISE

TEXT: PSALMS 135:1-5.

1Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD.

2Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God,

3Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

4For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

5For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

MEMORY VERSE: “Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant” (PSALMS 135:3).

MESSAGE:

Let God be praised individually and corporately for He is good. He deserves our praises because He is our Maker, Redeemer, Provider, Healer and Helper in times of need. However, our praises must be godly or biblical. Charles H. Spurgeon says, “I am afraid that where organs, choirs, and singing men and women are left to do the praise of the congregation, men’s minds are more occupied with the due performance of the music than with the Lord, who alone must be praised.” Indeed, biblical praise is not for entertainment.

Our text talks about pattern of biblical praise. It must be unto the Lord alone. As in prayer, we should not praise to be heard and commended of men. Our praise should be offered from a pure heart and with clean hands to God as a sacrifice. As a result, God honours it and turns our negative situations around. Also praise God after your miracles. Hear Moses after crossing the Red Sea, “Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”

QUOTE: Let God be praised

CHALLENGE: God demands timely acceptable praise from us daily.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Oh God, teach me to praise you with a grateful heart.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
