DCLM Higher Everyday 9 November 2024 — God’s Temple
DCLM Higher Everyday 9 November 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God’s Temple
Topic: God’s Temple
Text: 1 Corinthians 6:15-20
15Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Key Verse: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own (1 Corinthians 6:19)?
Message
Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit: A temple is a place sacred and that is dedicated to God and free from all forms of impurities and profanities. If you are a temple filled with the Spirit of God, you will not yield your body to immorality as a Christian youth. When you defile your body, you pollute God’s temple because your body belongs to God and not to you any longer as a believer. Any honest person will take good care of something that doesn’t belong to him. Our bodies belong to God because He bought them. We have no right to defile God’s property!

Use your body for honest gainful labour; we have no right to be idle or waste it for it belongs to God. Your body should be used to worship God, and not a willing horse in the service of Satan. Don’t use it for immoral incitation as some worldly youths do. Avoid nudity, lustful acts and tattooing of the body. Please, yield yourself to Christ and flee from all appearances of evil.
Quote: Yield yourself to Christ
Challenge: Glorify God with your body always.
Prayer for today: Oh Lord, fill my temple with the Holy Ghost.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
