TOPIC: GOD’S THOUGHT & WAYS
TEXT: ISAIAH 55:6-11.
6Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
MEMORY VERSE: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD” (ISAIAH 55: 8).
MESSAGE:
Sometimes, you face massive turmoil and misery in life. As such, you cry out to God and it appears God is so far away and there is no help coming your way. In that situation, you feel lonely and discouraged. Such was the case of Elijah when he prayed that God should kill him because he was afraid of the threat from Jezebel. However, God still had work for him to do (1 Kings 19:2-4, 13-18). Remember, God’s thought concerning you is the thought of peace and not of evil but to give you an expected end (Psalm 115: 15).
Friend, you feel that God is unconcerned about your case? No, you are wrong if you do so, God cares for you more than you can ever imagine. That is why He is calling on everyone today to seek His face and completely turn away from sin, while there is time. To possess the mind of God and understand His thoughts and ways, your heart needs to be transformed and renewed by His Word and by seeking Him with all your heart.
QUOTE: God cares for you.
CHALLENGE: God loves you more than you can imagine.
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Oh God, renew my mind to conform to your thoughts.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
