TOPIC: GOD’S WORD AS HONEY
BIBLE TEXT: PSALM 19:7-11
8The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
MEMORY VERSE: “The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb” (PSALM 19:9, 10).
MESSAGE:
Smith Wigglesworth said, “There are four principles we need to maintain. First, read the Word of God. Second, consume the Word of God until it consumes you. Third, believe the Word of God. Fourth, act on the Word.” Honey is a nutritious, natural sweetener made by bees; an energy source that also serves as medicine for health and healing. This is a super-food that is compared to God’s Word in our Bible text today.

From our passage today, God’s Word is referred to as the Law, Testimony, Statutes, Commandment and Judgments of the Lord. Each was qualified respectively as perfect, sure, right, pure, clean and true. When one accepts and believes God’s Word, it works wonders in one’s life. It transforms a sinner’s life and character, and is a soothing balm that refreshes and revives the soul. It makes the heart joyful and makes one wise. It enlightens, nourishes, develops, guides and gives us confidence. We have to study and obey the word to enjoy the benefits. If it must be sweet in your life, feed on it.

CHALLENGE: Desire and value God’s Word more than gold or honey.
PRAYER: Help us Lord, to grow through living by your Word.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
