Topic: Praising God, The Almighty

Text: Psalm 150:1-6

1Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

2Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

3Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

5Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

6Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Key Verse: “Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness” (Psalm 150:2).

Message

The psalms emphasize the importance of praising and worshiping God as the theme of praise pervades the psalms. In only six short verses, the author ends with a powerful chorus of praise in which we are prompted to express gratitude to the Lord 13 times. The verses begin with a call to action, urging everyone to glorify God and sing songs in His honour. The Scope of Praise reminds us that God’s vastness and might are beyond comprehension, and that He deserves our undivided attention. Finally, the reasons for thanks remind all Christians to praise and adore God for who He is and what He has done. These teachings urge us to concentrate on thanking and worshiping God, to recognize His magnificence and might, and to prioritize His praise in our lives.

Now join Fanny Crosby to sing;

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son
and give him the glory, great things he has done!

Quote:  Recognize His magnificence

Challenge: Praise God always, in good and difficult times.

Prayer for today: Let all that I am and have praise You LORD!

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
