DCLM Sincere Milk 13 May 2023 — Good Out Of Bad

DCLM Sincere Milk  13 May 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Good Out Of Bad

Topic: Good Out Of Bad

Text — Philippians 1:12-18

12But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

13So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;

14And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

15Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

16The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

17But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

18What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

Key Verse: “But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;” Philippians 1:12

Message

In January 1956, a group of five missionaries attempted to bring Christianity to the Waodani people of Ecuador. These people, also known as Aucas, were an isolated tribe known for their violence against outsiders who entered their territory. It was said that no one had ever engaged this tribe without being killed. With the intention of sharing the love of Jesus, the missionaries flew to the jungle and established a camp there. Their efforts came to an end on January 8, 1956, when all five were attacked and killed by a group among the Auca tribe.

The death of the missionaries led to greater effort in evangelizing the Auca tribe. Eventually, most of the villagers, including six out of those who killed the missionaries accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord. Today, the church is well established in that region. God worked through the sacrifice of His servants to bring good out of a bad situation.
Apostle Paul suffered greatly because of the gospel. He was arrested and locked up in the prison which seems to be a bad situation.

However, God brought out good result from his experience by saving the jailor and his family. Apostle Paul was able to testify that, through his sufferings, many souls were won to the Lord, believers were strengthened and the church of Christ grew both spiritually and numerically. Whatever situation you are passing through now, whether bad or uncomfortable, look unto Jesus, He will work out everything and bring good out of it on your behalf. Never you give up, only believe.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to see beyond my present bad situation and trust in You for a brighter tomorrow.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
