MEMORISE: Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

READ: Matthew 14:20
And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 19:16-30; Exodus 16-18

MESSAGE:

It is important to always comport yourself in a proper manner when you’re in the company of others or eating in public and it’s also important to clean up or clear your table after eating in the comfort or your home. This is why we will be examining good table manners that you should inculcate early.

First is that it is rude to use your phone while eating at the table because it makes you ignore those who are sitting there at the table with you. Meal time is bonding time so don’t be wrapped up in your phone while at the table.

Secondly, wait for everyone to be served before you start eating and when you do, remember to eat in small bits as this will keep your mouth from being too full and limit the chance of gluttony. In addition, chewing with your mouth closed is a basic part of table manners. Please refrain from talking with your mouth full and chew with your lips closed.

Its important to note that you may not like what is being served but the polite thing To do is keep those negative comments yourself. If you’re served something that you don’t like, take a small portion and try to eat what you can and thank your host.

Finally, as Jesus’ disciples picked up fragments in today’s Bible reading, help clean after everyone is finished at the table.

REFLECTION:
How well do you comport yourself at the dining table?

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
