TOPIC: HEART CIRCUMCISION
TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 30:1-8
2And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;
3That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.
4If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:
5And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.
6And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
7And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.
8And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.
MEMORY VERSE: “And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live” (DEUTERONOMY 30:6).
MESSAGE:
Medically, circumcision – the surgical removal of the foreskin of the male private part – is done for hygienic purposes to lower the risk of urinary tract infections. This practice found its origin in the Bible.
Just as circumcision of the flesh symbolized outward identification with the Lord and the covenant (Genesis 17:10-23), so circumcision of the heart (Deuteronomy 10:6 and Jeremiah 4:4) speaks of internal identification with God, also called sanctification or purification of heart in theology.

Our hearts define who we are. What comes out of a man can make him unclean. From within men’s hearts comes evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly (Mark 7:20-23).
Therefore, to see an outward change, there must be an inward change. The benefits of heart circumcision include: being able to totally love God and man (friends and enemies alike), forgive hurts and pains, be blameless and holy in God’s presence, live a peaceful and joyful life in all circumstances and live eternally with God.
QUOTE: Our hearts define who we are.
CHALLENGE: Are you ready for a heart circumcision? Ask for it.
PRAYER: Circumcise my heart dear Lord.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
