TOPIC: THE SYMPATHETIC SAMARITAN

TEXT: LUKE 10:33-37

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

MEMORY VERSE: “But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him” (LUKE 10:33, 34).

A woman was arrested in a grocery store for stealing. When the policeman asked her what she stole, she said, “Five eggs to feed my hungry children.” Rather than carry out the arrest, the police officer took her back to the supermarket and bought her foodstuffs to feed herself and her children.

Compassion will not allow the “good Samaritan” to abandon the victim in his precarious condition despite the hostility between the Jews and the Samaritans.

We should not dodge any opportunity to do good under any guise. “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”

Plant good seeds in the lives of others and forget them. It will germinate and grow someday. No form of kindness you show is lost, it reproduces itself, not necessarily in the same form, but it always does.

Goodness is a fruit of the Spirit which Christian youths should produce in abundance. Be zealous for good works for it will always come back to you in due season. It is good to be good.

QUOTE: Plant good seeds in the lives of others.

CHALLENGE: Never lose any opportunity to do good.

PRAYER: Father, give me grace to impact others positively, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
