TOPIC: HEROES’ DAIRY – I

TEXT: HEBREWS 11:1-7

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

MEMORY VERSE: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (HEBREWS 11:6).

MESSAGE:

Enoch was the first man mentioned in the Bible to have walked with God (Genesis 5:22-24). His walk for 300 years with God took him to heaven to be with God because He was pleased with his holy faith walk with Him. He was the first person to be translated by God that he should not experience death.

Faith pleases God and it is very essential in walking with Him. Where He finds faith, He rewards. Noah is called a hero of faith because of his holy lifestyle that qualified him to walk with God. At his time, many walked in their own ways, but Noah chose to walk with God.

What qualifies a person to walk with God? The following make the list: holiness, faith, obedience, pure love, faithfulness, agreement, clean hands and a pure heart, and prayerfulness.

In the New Testament context, anyone who wants to walk with God must be born again – cleansed by the blood of the Lamb and be consecrated to Him, having Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and Lord. Then walk accordingly, now that you have your name in the Book of Life.

QUOTE: Have your name in the Book of Life.

CHALLENGE: Be like Enoch: walk with God.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to live holy and grow in faith daily.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
