DCLM Sincere Milk 19 April 2025 — Honesty Pays

DCLM Sincere Milk 18 April 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiHonesty Pays

Topic: Honesty Pays

Text: 1 Peter 2:11,12

Key Verse: “Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: …” 1 Peter 2:12a

Message

There are actually actions that speak louder than words. The way you behave causes people to form their opinions or feelings about you. Apostle Peter shows the friends of Jesus how they should act to glorify God before the unbelievers. They should abstain from fleshly lust and be honest in all they do. Honesty means truthfulness, openness and holy lifestyle. Though demoted to the background, yet honesty is the pillar upon which a just society rests.

It is needed in politics, at school, at home, government, law courts and in the church. Take honesty away from our behaviour; the family and the society becomes a hopeless and dreadful place to live in. Unfortunately, technology and civilization seem to have made the world more dishonest. People especially use the phones and the internet to easily show dishonest conducts. Do not join them, be truthful and live a holy life.

Your honest behaviour will make people to glorify God. You must show the good works of honesty wherever you go even if you have to suffer for it.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to be honest and truthful wherever I go that Your name may be glorified in this sinful world.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
