Topic: Imitating Christ’s Humility
Bible Reading: Philippians 2:5-8 (KJV)
5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
KEY VERSE: “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:8
Message
What does it mean to imitate Christ’s humility? It simply means to be humble the way He was when He came to live among men. Christ, the Saviour of the world, God in human flesh, was born in the midst of animals. He did not have a warm furry bed, rather, He had a harsh hay bed and was wrapped in swaddling clothes instead of a blanket. He was not born in a king’s palace to an earthly monarch, but to a lowly carpenter’s family. His earthly parents had not yet come together as husband and wife before He was conceived in Mary’s womb through the Holy Spirit.
Christ lived learning to be a carpenter like Joseph his earthly father not attending law or medical school like a child of wealthy parents. He submitted to the authority of His earthly parents by following them to the Jewish synagogue. He knew more than His teachers, yet He was under their training. In demonstrating His humility, Christ walked as one with His disciples. He did not elevate Himself above them. However, His works of salvation (forgiveness of sins, healings and deliverances etc.) amongst the people proved the Lordship of Christ. Let the Christlike life of humility be seen in your daily life. It will attract other people to Him.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, please help me to live in humility like You did so others can come to You through me.

James 4:6-10
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
