TOPIC: Inevitable Retribution (DCLM Daily Manna 8 June 2026)
KEY VERSE: Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel – Jeremiah 50:29
TEXT: Jeremiah 50:25-30 (KJV)
25 The Lord hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.
26 Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.
27 Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.
28 The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, the vengeance of his temple.
29 Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the Lord, against the Holy One of Israel.
30 Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the Lord.
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
One of the most dangerous effects of sin is that it gets to a point where it lulls a person into thinking that he is invincible. He develops an inexplicable confidence that whatever he does, he would get away with it, that there is no price to pay for moral failures and selfish pursuits at the expense of other people, for achieving personal ambitions with devastating impact on others. It is, of course, because such people do not really know God; otherwise, they would be frightened by the prospect that their sins would eventually catch up with them.

As it is with individuals, so it is with nations. Babylon was once at the height of its power in the world. It was merciless and powerful. And when God needed a nation that was fully steeped in wickedness to exact punishment on rebellious and disobedient Judah, Babylon came in handy. She served God‘s purpose enthusiastically, maybe too well, to the extent that judgment was then set against her. God mustered the most vicious armoury to be unleashed on Babylon. It was invaded by a superior power, in this case, the Medo-Persians, who destroyed Babylon in 539 BC. All her wealth and institutions of power were wiped out.
The Jews who escaped to Israel to announce the utter destruction of Babylon were in so much shock and awe. God had amassed the most intimidating army to “recompense her according to her work, according to all she hath done, (to) do unto her.” She became proud and started acting against God, until her population and her once-feared army was completely decimated.

We must never forget at all times that sin has consequences. We can cover up our actions, but it is only for a time. Sooner or later, it will be exposed, and then, the repercussions will be rolled out. Judgment against sin does not usually wait only for eternity when its consequences are essentially total and permanent, but it comes in this life also, when the sinner is beset with numerous and inexplicable problems. Those who enjoy sin and the rewards it brings to them must quickly turn from their evil ways and put their faith in Jesus Christ. Otherwise, if they wait for God’s hammer of judgment to fall, the consequences would be utterly devastating.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
A person may escape from the scene of his evil, but he can’t escape the sentence of it

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
