DCLM Higher Everyday 10 June 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Inspiring Introduction

Topic: Inspiring Introduction

Text: John 1:29-36

29The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

30This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

31And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

32And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

33And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

34And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

35Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

36And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

Memory Verse: “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).

Message

Guest speakers at public events are usually great men of impact in the society and are usually called up to the podium by someone else mentioning the status, achievements, personality, and other antecedents of the guest speaker for the sole purpose of inspiring the audience to great expectation and to give him honour due him. Just as the choice of who introduces the guest speaker is carefully made, God was also meticulous about who should introduce His Son, Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world. Introducing Christ, John declared, “Behold the Lamb of God…” Elsewhere he also said, “And I saw and bare record that this is the son of God.”

John was known to be filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb, was separated unto God in the wilderness until his day of showing, strict with his appetite for food as he ate only wild honey and locust, and was not ostentatious in appearance as he wore camel skins. You must also encounter the Saviour to experience His saving power, before you can introduce the Son of God to the dying world.

QUOTE: Also encounter the Saviour.

PRAYER: Lord, help me make Christ known wherever I go.

CHALLENGE: Like John, introduce Jesus to the world with passion.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
