TOPIC: JEHOVAH SABAOTH
BIBLE TEXT: PSALM 46:1-11
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
KEY VERSE: “The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah” (Psalm 46:7).
MESSAGE:
Jehovah Sabaoth means the Lord of Hosts. This name pictures God as the ruler of the angels, the armies of heaven. God is in control of legions or uncountable number of angels who are ministering servants. He sends them on errands at His will. They also surround the throne of God, singing praises to Him continually because Jehovah Sabaoth alone is worthy of all praises and honour. We can see the activities of the Host of the Lord throughout the Bible. God sends them to protect or deliver His own children. At other times, He can send them to deliver judgment on the wicked. God sent His angels to deliver good news to Abraham about the birth of his son Isaac, and also tell him of the judgment coming upon Sodom and Gomorrah. Also, just one angel was sent to destroy 85,000 soldiers of an enemy nation.
In the New Testament, the host of the Lord were always on assignment. An angel was sent to deliver Peter from prison, while Herod, the persecutor, was smitten by an angel. The Lord of Hosts is still in control of the affairs of His children. He will send His angels to minister to you as the need arises. All you need to do is to surrender your life to Christ and be on the side of the Lord. At the end of the age, He will take you to heaven where you will join His hosts to worship Him day and night.
PRAYER: Lord of hosts, I thank You for always sending help to us at the right time.
FURTHER READING: Genesis 32:1, 2
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
