DCLM Higher Everyday 5 July 2025 — Jesus Is The True Light
DCLM Higher Everyday 5 July 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Jesus Is The True Light
Topic: Jesus Is The True Light
Text: John 1: 1- 9
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2The same was in the beginning with God.
3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Key Verse: “There was a man sent from God whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all men through him might believe” (John 1:6, 7).
Message
Natural sources of light include the sun, stars, fire, and storms’ electrical discharge. Bioluminescence, a phenomenon where organisms emit their own light, is exemplified by fireflies, jellyfish, and luminescent mushrooms. Exposure to natural light benefits human physiology and psyche, promoting Vitamin D synthesis, circadian rhythm regulation, sleep quality enhancement, focus, productivity, and mood improvement. The concept of “true light” extends beyond physical realms, encompassing being original and reliable. Christ exemplifies this truth.

The passage highlights Jesus as the Word of God and the true light, bringing life and illumination to humanity. His creative power is evident in every corner of the universe, showcasing His majesty and sovereignty. Jesus offers abundant, meaningful life that is beyond the temporal and ushers us into the eternal. In a world full of darkness, sin, despair, and hopelessness, Jesus Christ shines as a beacon of hope and salvation. His light pierces through despair, offering redemption and restoration to those willing to receive it. May we, like John the Baptist, bear witness to Christ the Light, so that all may experience His transformative power.
Quote: Christ shines as a beacon of hope.
Challenge: Allow Christ’s radiance to penetrate your life.
Prayer for today: Father of Light, lead me into the abundant life.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
