TOPIC: “BE YE SEPARATE”

TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 6:14-18

Key Verse: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you” (2 Corinthians 6:17).

MESSAGE:

There are two categories of people in the world.

(i) Those who love Jesus and have accepted Him as personal Saviour and Lord (saints).

(ii) Those who oppose Jesus and reject His offer of salvation (sinners).

These two categories exist side by side in every community. This is the reason the Bible emphasizes the need for friends of Jesus to be separate from all influences of sinners.

The subject of separation from evil is very important in God’s relationship with His children. No one can serve two masters at the same time. You must choose only one master.

The right Master to choose and to serve is Jesus Christ. If you have chosen Him and desire to serve Him acceptably, you have to come out from under the authority of your former master (Satan), and his agents.

Separating yourself involves doing away with sin and everything that is contrary to Jesus Christ, righteousness and God’s word. It also demands that you draw near to God in a close and intimate fellowship through prayer, worship, studying and meditating on His word.

The result of our separation is that God will become our heavenly Father who lives with us and we in turn become His sons and daughters. As such, we can enjoy His protection, blessings and Fatherly care.

If you are in any close relationship with the people and things of the world, you cannot please God. Therefore, you must separate yourself now.

Prayer: Help me O Lord, to run away from evil association so that I can enjoy fellowship with You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
