DCLM Sincere Milk 4 June 2026 — Jesus was Stricken for you
DCLM Sincere Milk 4 June 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Jesus was Stricken for you
Topic: Jesus was Stricken for you
Bible Reading: Isaiah 53:4-8 (KJV)
4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
KEY VERSE: “…for the transgression of my people was he stricken.” Isaiah 53:8c
Message
People find it difficult to suffer for their own evil acts. We have heard of tough criminals, murderers pleading with the judge for leniency or pardon, putting the blame for their crime on Satan or other sources. We have read of serial killers who collapsed and wept as they heard of death sentences passed on them for their crime. They even claimed they have children to care for as the reason to escape punishment after they have killed other people’s children. They are afraid to pay the penalty for their own wickedness. There are boys and girls too who will beg their parents or teachers in school for pardon being afraid to suffer punishment for their wrong doings.
If it is so difficult to suffer for your own sins, how easy is it therefore for you to suffer for the sins of another people. Can you, wholeheartedly, accept to be punished for your brother’s or friend’s offence? The answer is No. Oh, Jesus willingly suffered for your transgression and sins. God put the punishment for your sin on His Son. He bore the pain for your wickedness. He was stricken and He died of a broken heart for you. Appreciate His great love. Turn away from your sins and make Him your Saviour and Friend. Love Him for the rest of your life.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Thank You Lord for suffering in my place. I will love You all the days of my life.
FURTHER READING
John 3:15-18
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
