TOPIC: Just Obey! (DCLM Daily Manna 10 February 2022)

TEXT: John 9:1-7 (KJV)

1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

KEY VERSE: “And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.” – (John 9:7)

MESSAGE:

Someone said, “The hallmark of your faith mentality is preparing yourself for the manifestation of your destiny. Every expected destiny comes in form of opportunity. Those who do not prepare for their opportunity cannot recognise it when it comes.”

The man born blind in our text recognised that his opportunity had come. He must have heard a lot about Jesus as the Healer whose spoken words guaranteed instant miracles. When Jesus decided to “make clay of spittle” and told the man to go and wash in the pool of Siloam, he did not lose hope or begin to complain. Had he done so, he would have missed the opportunity forever!

In doing this to the blind man, Jesus presented the opportunity for him to choose to obey His command to go and wash. There was no medical power in the clay. But there was power in the One who made it. The man obeyed and “came back seeing”. His decision not to argue with Jesus but promptly obey Him brought testimony. There are possibilities that can result in our lives when we obey Jesus’ commands. Many Christians remain in their challenges because they constantly fail to recognise the move of God in their lives. They hope to see God use the same pattern of deliverance or miracles He deployed in resolving other people’s case in their own situation; so, they miss it.

God cannot be forced to intervene in ugly human situations the same way all the time. As God, His ways, methods and timing are perfect. Those who do not follow the instructions of Jesus deprive themselves of needed divine interventions from Him.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Obedience of faith may lack logic but not blessings.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
