DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 21 June 2022 — Literature evangelism
DCLM Higher Everyday 21 June 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Literature evangelism
TOPIC: LITERATURE EVANGELISM
TEXT: ACTS 1:1-4
1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
MEMORY VERSE: “The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach” (ACTS 1:1).
MESSAGE:
A story was told of an old woman who was on the verge of committing suicide, and just about the time, she heard persistent knocks on her door. Reluctantly, she opened and found a young boy with a tract in his hand and an angelic smile on his face; he told her of God’s unconditional love for her and left.
Puzzled, she read the tract. That night, joy flooded her heart and the thought of death flew away! The act of that young boy in the rain delivered a soul from death and brought her to salvation.
Literature evangelism is the act of sharing Christian publications such as tracts and youth magazines, with people for their salvation. Like that young boy, you can also reach out to people, both far and near, through giving out of tracts, sending mails and using the social media to win them to Jesus.
Your commitment to this work is very important as it is the heartbeat of the Almighty. If you are still a sinner you have to be saved before you evangelize others.
QUOTE: Be saved before you evangelize others.
CHALLENGE: Prayerfully give out tracts daily.
PRAYER: Father, empower me to do literature evangelism.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
