DCLM Higher Everyday 17 March 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiLive A Disciplined Life

Topic: Live A Disciplined Life

Text: Ecclesiastes 11:7-10

7Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:

8But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.

9Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

10Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

Key Verse: “But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity” (Ecclesiastes 11:8).

Message

Singapore chose a new Prime Minister in 2024 after four years of strict, tedious filtering and performance index review on four outstanding candidates. Mr. Lawrence Wong was selected after he had the highest score in character performance, integrity and other qualities. Further investigation proved that he had no record of public complaints, police traffic summons, tax fraud, racial hatred statements, corruption and bribery.

A disciplined life is one that reflects on the past to live right today in preparation for a better tomorrow. It is folly to live carelessly and hope to reap blessings in the end. The Holy Bible is given as a manual for us to navigate from childhood through teenage years to a profitable adulthood. It leads us to purity before God’s just judgment on all mankind. Sinners know the consequence of eternal dark days. They may successfully cover up their tracks from man but not God. Neither Cain nor Achan could. The day of reckoning is coming. Beloved, live holy every day in preparation to meet the Holy Judge.

Quote: The day of reckoning is coming

Challenge: Have you counted the cost of your actions?

Prayer for today: Father, I plead for grace and wisdom to live holy.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
