TOPIC: MAKE YOUR LAMP BURN ALWAYS

TEXT: EXODUS 27:20, 21

20And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

21In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.

Key Verse: “And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always” (Exodus 27:20).

MESSAGE:

The life of a Christian is likened to a lamp that is burning and shining. A Christian’s life must shine in the midst of this dark world. It is the shining life that makes the difference between those who have accepted Jesus as their Saviour and Lord, and those who have not.

In our Bible passage, God commanded Moses to instruct the children of Israel to offer pure olive oil to keep the tabernacle’s lamp burning continuously. Believers are the temple of God today and our life must shine continuously. The grace of God is the oil that makes our lives shine.

God’s grace produces the fruit of the Spirit in us which includes love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance (self-control). A gracious life is a pleasant life, a life that shines and has a positive impact on friends and everyone around us, and brings people to Christ.

Do you have sufficient oil of grace in your lamp? Is your life burning, shining and sparkling always? A shining life is a life filled with God’s blessings. Let your life shine.

Prayer: Lord, give me grace so that my life will shine and bring others to Jesus.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
