DCLM Sincere Milk  23 February 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Marvels of a new life

TOPIC: MARVELS OF A NEW LIFE

BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 3:5-7

5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

KEY VERSE: “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again” (John 3:7).

MESSAGE:

There was a man who was feared by everyone. He was very cruel and wicked to the people of God. He hated everyone that calls on the name of Jesus. He went from place to place looking for the followers of Christ. He took delight in killing them and those he could not kill he put in prison. All the priests of his religion and his friends hailed him for his evil works. But one day, Jesus met him on the way as he was going to a faraway town to arrest Jesus’ friends. Jesus called him by his name and he called Jesus, Lord, for the first time. That meeting with Jesus changed his whole life. His name was Saul, who later became Paul. People who knew him before could not believe that such an evil fellow could be turned into a new man by the mercy of God.

There is something marvelous about the new life in Jesus. There is no experience in life that can bring such a divine change upon a person. The changes that come on a child that is born again cannot be hidden. Such a child becomes a “wonder” to his family members, neighbours and friends. The bad things he used to do, he will do them no more.

Are you born again? Have you turned away from all your bad ways? You can pray and repent of your sins now. Then your life will become marvelous.

PRAYER: Lord, forgive my sins and make my life a marvel to all my friends.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
