TOPIC: MEASURABLE GOALS

TEXT: REVELATION 21:15-17

15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.

16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

Key Verse: “And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel” (Revelation 21:17).

MESSAGE:

Measurements are means of assessment. When we take examinations, our teachers want to know to what extent we measure up to a certain requirement. Without measurement, we cannot know how well or how bad our performances are.

Our goals must be set in measurable terms; that is, evidence to mark the attainment of our goals. For instance, if you have a goal of reading four story books in one month, then reading one story book weekly is a measure towards achievement of your goal.

If you cannot measure your goals, you cannot assess your progress. Hence, you may just be marking time at a point. Endeavour to start setting measurable goals from today, and great will be your achievements.

Write out two goals you can accurately measure within the next three months.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
